Diverse!  Majestic!  Exciting! Dynamic! Growing! Thriving!  Fun!

It is not difficult to find adjectives to describe this magical part of Alberta. The Crowsnest Pass is a jewel in the Rocky Mountains. The five towns of the Pass are typified by a traditional western setting where short grasses, dramatic mountains, alpine forests and big sky dominate the landscape.

Within the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass, there is so much to see and do! In particular, during the summer the area offers outstanding adventure racing, hiking and fishing.

The remarkable culture and lifestyle of local Aboriginals can be seen and experienced at Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump. It is a UNESCO world heritage site located 18 km northwest of  Fort Macleod. In 1903, the town of Frank experienced a rockslide avalanche, to learn more about this tragedy visit the Frank Slide Interpretive Centre.

coleman

Coleman is the westernmost town in the Crowsnest pass and it has a population of about 2,500. Guests of the Airstream Hotel may enjoy visiting some of the many local attractions such as the  Crowsnest Museum. It houses galleries of photographs and life-size historical displays. The Historic Miner's Path leads to the McGillivray mine site. Did you know that Coleman is the home of the biggest piggy bank in the world? It was creatively made from a bottle mine locomotive and affectionately known as Ten Ton Toots.  While in Coleman, visit  Flumerfelt Park in the centre of town. It is the venue for the weekly Coleman Country Market, where artistic wares and high-quality foods are displayed for sale. Flumerfelt Park also has a spray park for the kids to enjoy!

blairmore

Originally a lonely Canadian Pacific Railway stop, Blairmore is now a thriving community. It is a good base for exploring the Pass. Blairmore's streets are lined with period housing, and views of the mountains inspire many local photographers and artists.

Blairmore is a charming, evolving, wonderful town of about 6,500 people. Most people regard Blairmore as the main economic and commercial centre of the Crowsnest Pass. Take a look through  Blairmore’s historic courthouse  and visit the remains of the Leitch Collieries. This huge processing plant was a remarkable enterprise, churning out thousands of tons of coke daily. It stands as a testament to the early industry of the Pass, coal mining.
